Councillor Thanks Fire, Police, Other Agencies

(Friday, June 6/2003)-- District 12 Councillor Dawn Sloane today issued a statement thanking Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services, Halifax Regional Police, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, volunteers at Spencer House and others for their tremendous efforts in dealing with an early morning fire on South Street in Halifax this morning.

Fire ravaged a 23-unit apartment building at 5251 South Street, injuring two persons and leaving more than 30 people homeless.

Fire investigators remain on the scene today.
