Harbour Solutions Committee Makes Progress

(Thursday, July 31, 2003)- Councillor Bruce Hetherington, Deputy Chairman of the Harbour Solutions Advisory Committee, announced after a meeting held this afternoon that progress has been made in moving closer towards finalizing the agreement between Halifax Regional Municipality and Dexter Construction Company Limited for Phase I of the Collection System and Roads.

Councillor Hetherington said "The Harbour Solutions Committee has approved a motion, after reviewing the terms and conditions presented by staff, to move forward with making a presentation of the final documents between Halifax Regional Municipality and Dexter Construction Company."

The presentation will be made at a subsequent meeting of the Advisory Committee to be scheduled next week, for final approval after which it will be forwarded to be signed off by Mayor Peter Kelly and Dexter Construction Company Limited. Regional Council had previously given the Harbour Solutions Committee permission to approve the final agreement if it meets all criteria.

Committee members in attendance at the meeting today were Councillor Sue Uteck, Councillor Reg Rankin, Councillor Dawn Sloane and Councillor Linda Mosher. Non-committee members also in attendance were Councillor Steve Streatch, Deputy Mayor Harry McInroy and Councillor Ron Cooper.
