Residents Advised of Alleged Fund-Raising Scam

(Friday, April 2/2004)-- Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service has been advised that a person(s) was canvassing for funds door-to-door in the Lower Sackville area last evening on behalf of the Firefighters Widows and Surviving Child Fund.

Residents of HRM are advised that the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service does not sanction, nor is it in any way connected, with this fund-raising effort.

Citizens are advised to contact their local police agency if they are unsure of, or in any way concerned about, persons canvassing for any fire service fund in their neighbourhood.
