PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Hurricane Juan Debris
Changes to Open Air Burning By-Law
(Thursday, July 15, 2004) - In response to large volumes of debris caused by Hurricane Juan, exemptions have been made
for residents who require burning permits. Based on this special exemption, site inspectors may reduce clearances to
combustibles and property lines on a case by case basis.
Residents who have tree blow-down from Hurricane Juan and require a burning permit, are advised to contact their local
fire station. This exemption is for Hurricane Juan debris only.
Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency has the right to limit the number of permits issued. This will be determined at the
local station level.
(Subject to Provincial Regulations.)
