Porters Lake Community Transit Survey

Porters Lake Community Transit passengers and potential Community Transit users were asked to provide feedback on what their daily trip patterns are in and around HRM, to help shape the future of Community Transit in the Porters Lake area. Information was gathered between September 14 and the end of September.

Pilot Service To Sambro

Beginning Monday, August 31, 2009, our Community Transit will introduce pilot service to the community of Sambro.

Transit will begin its two-directional service from the Ketch Harbour Fire Station, with stops at Ketch Harbour Rd., Old Sambro Rd., Dentith Rd., to terminate at South Centre Mall. Transit service will begin at 5:30 am, with interval service throughout the day, with the last trip leaving the fire station at 8:15 pm.

Sambro Community Bus Stops

Community Transit service will be available from Monday to Friday only. Buses will be equipped with a bike rack, which can accommodate two bicycles.

During this pilot period, the route will not be accessible to wheelchairs.

COMMUNITY TRANSIT FARES

Effective August 30th, 2009, the Fare Structure for all Community Transit Services, including the new Sambro Community Transit service, will be adapted to reflect the conventional route transit fare structure:

• $2.25 Adult
• $1.50 Child (ages 5 - 15)
• $1.50 Senior (ages 65 & up)
  

Metro Pass, Metro Link Passes, MetroX Passes and UPass accepted at face value on Community Transit.

SCHEDULE

Porter’s Lake Community Transit

• Saturday service will be available from July 4, 2009 to September 5, 2009.
• Porter’s Lake service will begin and terminate at the Portland
  Hills Terminal
  
  Beaver Bank & Fall River Community Transit

• The 8 AM school trip has been discontinued
• The 8:15 AM and 8:30 AM school trips will remain in effect
• All school pick ups will be at Yeohannas Store
• No change to the PM school trips
• Additional Beaver Bank trips have been added, 7:10 AM, 9:20 AM
  and 4:25 PM from Sackville Terminal
• The 9:25 AM and 4:25 PM Fall River trips have been discontinued
  

Important Information:

• Please allow for delays due to road conditions, traffic, weather, etc. Remember to be at your stop a few minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
• It is extremely dangerous to stop and pick up passengers who are not on the proper side of the road. Therefore, for the safety of the public and our passengers, operators have been instructed to stop only for persons who are on the proper side of the road and are standing in a safe area.
• It is extremely dangerous to cross the road in front of a bus. Please allow for the bus to proceed and then cross.
