2010/11 Annual Service Plan

During HRM budget deliberations, Metro Transit’s 2010/11 Annual Service Plan & Operating Budget was approved as part of the 2010/11 HRM Corporate Plan and Budget.

The Annual Service Plan represents the first year of service implementation of the Five-Year Strategic Operations Plan. A number of significant positive changes are scheduled for August 2010, such as the introduction of three new routes, in addition to 4 newly-converted ALF routes, and the re-introduction of the 30's into Urban Express (limited-stop) routes.

The proposed service efficiencies and schedule adjustments found in the plan represent areas where transit service standards have not met expectations; therefore, routes have been either readjusted or eliminated. The savings from these quarterly adjustments improve the overall service with vehicle savings and cost recovery.

Metro Transit received full support from Regional Council on the Annual Service Plan 2010/11, despite current budget deficit faced by the municipality, which serves to emphasize the importance and priority of public transit in HRM.
