A 'pothole' is a hole in the street that is shaped like the bottom of a pot (rounded). Though most asphalt work is completed during the summer months, pothole patching is a year-round effort to ensure HRM streets remain safely passable for vehicles and pedestrians.
Potholes are identified during scheduled road patrols and via calls from residents. They are inspected and then repaired based on priorities as determined by established service standards.
