 Japanese Beetle, a non native species was identified in Cornwallis Park, located in the south end of Halifax , in August of 2001. Recognizing the significant damage it can do to plants and turf, it is considered a quarantine pest in Canada, the USA, and other countries.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency {CFIA} has implemented an integrated eradication program for Cornwallis Park and its immediate vicinity.
