On April 9, 2013 Halifax and West Community Council recommended that the Purcell’s Cove Community Steering Committee be discharged of their duties, which was unanimously ratified by Regional Council later that day. In their recommendation to Regional Council, Community Council members considered:
• that the intended work of the Steering Committee was essentially complete
• that the area Councillors serving on the Steering Committee have received extensive feedback from the local communities through the work of the Steering Committee, outlining concerns regarding the implications of the study and any proposed extension of municipal servicing
• that the communities’ concerns and input gathered during the process will be presented to the Halifax and West Community Council and Regional Council deliberations on the feasibility study report and proposed next steps.
Please monitor the meeting agendas section of the Halifax and West Community Council webpage for the date of when the staff report on this Feasibility Study will be considered by the Council.

Regional Council Motion of April 9, 2013 - Purcell's Cove Community Steering Committee
In 2011, Halifax Regional Council requested that staff to initiate a Planning and Engineering Study to determine the feasibility and costs associated with extending central sewer and water services along the Purcell’s Cove Road to and including the community of Purcell’s Cove.
