Origin of Project
In 2011, Regional Council initiated a process to amend the Downtown Dartmouth Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law relative to:
1.Changes to the View Planes from the Dartmouth Common and Brightwood Golf Course, and
2. Building height and form in the Business and Waterfront Districts
The view plane work was completed in 2013. Staff are now preparing MPS and LUB amendments to address building height and form. Please review the staff report outlining the recent view plane changes and additional information on the building height and form issue.
This application is being considered under the municipal planning strategy amendment and land use by-law amendment process. The next steps in the process will result in:

A Public Open House was held on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Alderney Landing Market. Visit Shape Your City Halifax to view materials on proposed precincts, shadow analysis, design guidelines and proposed approval process.

The next stage will be the preparation of a staff report containing recommended amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw for Downtown Dartmouth to be brought forward in winter of 2015.
