All day Open Houses were held on March 2nd and May 7th at the Lake Echo Community Recreation Society (Community Centre) at 3168 Highway 7, Lake Echo. The purpose of the open houses was to receive public feedback regarding the above-noted application. Planning staff was present to discuss the rezoning process and the application with respect to the provisions of the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-law for Planning District 8 & 9 (Lake Echo / Porters Lake). The applicant was present to discuss the proposed C&D Materials Processing Facility. The same information was presented at all sessions. Members of the public had a number of ways to provide input on the application. The open houses were open to anyone who wished to attend to seek information about the proposal and express comments or concerns that they may have. A summary of the all comments received at the Open Houses is being prepared in a report format and will be available of this website in the near future.

Request
Application by Kiann Management Limited to rezone a 14.7 acres of a property on the north side of Highway 7, west from Parker Lane, Porters Lake from the RE (Rural Enterprise) zone to CD-2 (C&D Materials Processing Facilities) zone to permit a Construction and Demolition Waste Processing Facility. The property is identified as PID 40740276 Highway 7, Porters Lake.

The applicant has submitted plans for a construction and demolition materials processing facility on the property. The proposal for the facility includes truck unloading, truck scales, sorting, processing/storage, inspection, parking and a scale house/office building. The proposal also includes signage and fencing.

The subject property falls within the Planning District 8 & 9 (Lake Echo/ Porters Lake) Plan Area. The Municipal Planning Strategy for Planning District 8 & 9 enables Harbour East – Marine Drive Community Council to consider a rezoning on subject property under Policies P-46G and P-89.

The application is being considered under the rezoning process.

Upon the request of the applicant this application has been placed on hold.
Open Houses (public consultation) were held to receive feedback regarding the proposal. Sstaff are conducting an internal review of the application and will submit a staff report to the Harbour East – Marine Drive Community Council, should they wish to consider the rezoning a public hearing will be held.
