SIRT Investigation

Halifax Regional Police has contacted the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) regarding an incident where a man in police custody was required to be taken to hospital.

This morning at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at Needs Convenience Store located on Chebucto Road. A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was being held in cells at 1975 Gottingen Street to appear in court later today. While in custody, the man developed some medical concerns and was taken to hospital.

Halifax Regional Police contacted SIRT about this incident and they will be conducting an investigation into this matter. Any questions about their investigation should be directed to SIRT.
