The Integrated HRP/RCMP Major Crime Unit is seeking the public's assistance in solving the homicide of Keya Knita Simon.

At 11:20 p.m. on January 8, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 117 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, officers found 19-year-old Keya Knita Simon on the floor inside the front doors of the apartment building.

It is believed that there was a party inside one of the apartments at this location. A group of people known to the victims arrived at the party. An altercation ensued, spilling out onto the front lawn of the apartment building and culminating with both Keya and her 32-year-old sister being stabbed. Keya was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sister was treated for non life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital.

Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are interested in speaking with anyone who was at the party and are asking those people and anyone else with information about this incident to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
