The Integrated HRP/RCMP Major Crime Unit is seeking the public's assistance in solving the homicide of Donald Charles Downey.
Mr. Downey was shot several times with a handgun at close range as he exited his home. He was taken to hospital where he died very shortly thereafter. Mr. Downey was involved very heavily in the local drug trade and had been charged shortly before his death with conspiracy to traffic in illegal drugs. He was expecting a visitor on the night of his death. It was believed that he saw this person approaching his Creighton Street address.
