Obtaining a Social Insurance Card
Opening a Bank Account
To open a bank account, visit a local branch of the bank or credit union of your choice. Most banks require you to present two pieces of personal identification such as a Driver's License, Social Insurance card, Health card, photo identification card issued by Service Nova Scotia, birth certificate or passport when opening an account. The bank representative will help you decide which is the best type of account for you.
