Real Estate & Facility Services is responsible for the operation and property maintenance of HRM owned and leased properties and buildings, the delivery of acquisition and disposal services on behalf of the organization for municipal purposes, real estate advisory services, and the development and sale of HRM's Business Parks lots.
Our unit is made up of four specialized groups, which include a specialist team of policy, planning, design, and administrative support staff. We work with many other business units within HRM to assist with their purchase, sale and leasing requirements.

- There are five (5) Business and Industrial Parks housing 1800+ companies. Burnside Park, home to 1500+ businesses, is the largest business park east of Montreal and north of Boston
- Real Property assessment for HRM owned Business Parks hit $800M creating annual real property taxes of $27M
- Approximately 100 land transactions managed and completed this past year
- Over 135 acres of capital property acquired in the last three years to support Municipal requirements
