Lake Banook will be the host site for the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, August 12-16, 2009. The Lake Banook Site Improvements Project will prepare HRM parks around Lake Banook for the benefit of the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships and will leave a legacy for park users.

Under the guidance of the Sullivan's Pond & Lake Banook Master Plan, the following site improvements will take place at the MicMac Aquatic Club/Boosenech Plaza area:
