All about HEAT

For the past 17 years, the Adventure Earth Centre has been offering  leadership development opportunities for youth through a variety of programs, camps and volunteer experiences with a focus on the earth and the environment.

Over 700 youth each year are involved in a variety of exciting and challenging leadership experiences that are designed to develop skills, build confidence, instill responsibility, and promote healthy relationships with peers, elder role models and other children and youth.

In an effort to provide more opportunities for youth to give back and contribute to their communities, the Adventure Earth Centre has undertaken what we believe to be a very special and unique project called “HEAT”.

HEAT is a group of youth who have been involved in one way or another with the Adventure Earth Centre’s youth leadership programs over the past few years and who have taken the initiative to explore ways to make a positive contribution towards building a healthy sustainable community by Helping the Environment and Acting Together.

The Adventure Earth Centre staff is committed to the development of youth and providing positive leadership experiences for the youth of the Halifax Regional Municipality. We are currently working on a proposal to develop and expand the HEAT project as part of HRM’s Youth Strategic Plan, and we are excited about the future possibilities and opportunities it will create for our youth and the many communities that make up our Regional Municipality.
