Can you help me apply online?
YES, visit any Recreation Centre and a Recreaiton Coordinator can assist you in applying online. Make sure you bring an electronic version of your resume!
You can also attend one of our scheduled HELP SESSIONS.
So far, we've confirmed the following dates and times:
- Feb 27: Captain William Spry Centre / 6:30 – 7:30 pm
- March 13: Lebrun Centre, Bedford / 3 to 5 pm
- March 14: Lakeside Community Centre / 1 – 3 pm
- March 15 North Preston Community Centre / 1 – 3 pm

I do not have access to a computer. How can I apply?
There are computers at all of the Halifax Public Libraries.
How do I make a change to my application?
- Go to our career site at www.halifax.ca/hr/jobs/index.html
- Click on Apply for Jobs OnLine, locate My Resumes
- Click the link and log in
- Locate the name of the resume you want to update.
- Once you save the changes, the resume you submitted will be updated.
- Only resumes and cover letters can be updated. No changes can be made to questionnaires.
The formatting of my resume looks different. How do I make it look better?
The formatting of your resume may look different when you are inputting it into the Workopolis site. Do not worry - it looks normal when it gets submitted to us!
Did you receive my application?

You automatically receive an e-mail acknowledgment indicating your application was successfully received.
- Please make sure your e-mail address is correct
- Contact sec@halifax.ca, if you did not receive an e-mail confirmation.
What is the status of my application?
- Check the status of a competition by logging into your account and double clicking on My Job List.
- We will start the applicant review process after the official closing date of the competition.
When are the interviews? When will I be contacted?
We will commence the applicant review process after the official closing date of the competition. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by e-mail or telephone. Ensure your telephone number and e-mail address is current and up to date.
The Competitions have closed. Can I still apply?
Applications will not be accepted after deadlines. However, should we require any further applications after the deadlines; opportunities will be advertised at www.halifax.ca/rec/Employment.html
Are there any other vacancies?
All jobs available to the public can be viewed on-line at www.halifax.ca/hr/jobs/index/html.
