Recreation Day | June 3 & 4, 2017

Recreation Day will be held Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4. In celebration of Recreation Day, many events will be hosted by Halifax Recreation across the municipality.

Saturday, June 3

Emera Oval

Sorry to report the Emera Oval Event has been cancelled due to the impending rain forecast. However, the site will still be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. should you wish to come and borrow gear. So before or after the rain come try it! - speciality bikes, seat scooters, plasma cars, roller blades and skates are available to borrow for no charge. The Rec van will also be onsite beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Capt William Spry Wave Pool

Free Swims & Facepainting:
Wave Swim from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Family Wave Swim from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Needham Pool

Free Swim:
Open Swim 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 4

Sackville Sports Stadium

Activities offered all day:

  • Sackville Sports Stadium will be available for the public to use for free all day
  • Free drop-in group exercise programs
  • Free open swim from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

Activities offered from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.:

  • Children’s inflatable bouncy castle
  • Rock wall and bungee jumper
  • Face painting & a DJ
  • 5-minute chair massages compliments of Physio Clinic
  • SSS program demonstrations
  • Nordic pole train walk 10 a m.-11 a.m.


Activities will be taking place as part of Switch Open Streets 12 noon to 4:00 p.m.:

  • Street games
  • Dance
  • Community art
  • Try A Ride - cycling and skateboarding
  • Drumming
  • Fitness classes
  • Learn all about fishing
