Wedding Ceremonies

Make the most of your special day by holding your wedding ceremony at one of HRM's picturesque outdoor venues.   

The more popular spots to hold your ceremony are listed below, but you are certainly not limited to only these locations.

Wedding ceremonies may take place , with an authorized facility rental contract, at the following locations:

Guidelines & Fees

Outdoor wedding ceremonies on in HRM parks are restricted to ceremonies only.  Receptions and use of alcohol are not permitted. Interested parties should book early to avoid disappointment.

Any of the above sites may be reserved, by permit, for a fee of $111.00.  This includes a $15.00 non-refundable application fee and a $96.00 wedding ceremony fee.  Rentals are on a first come first serve basis. Fees must be paid a minimum of one month prior to the ceremony date.

These sites are open seven days a week from May to October, from

10:00am - 7:00pm.

Dartmouth Common / Leighton Dillman Park ViewYour ceremony will be held in a public park.  Therefore, even though you have obtained a contract, you may not interfere with public use of the park. 

This permit ensures that for the specific date and time you have scheduled, we will not book any other events in the immediate area.  You are no permitted to erect any temporary fencing in the park.

Throwing of confetti and/or similar material in our parks is strictly prohibited. Please ensure that prior to the ceremony an announcement is made to ensure guests and participants are aware.

Please remember that parks belong to everyone and all are welcome to enjoy them. Areas cannot be roped off or otherwise isolated from general public access.

Parking

Parking at all HRM public parks is first come, first serve. No reserved parking is available. 

Vehicles are not permitted in the park unless on designated roadways.

 

Cancellations

In the event of extreme weather conditions, HRM Facility Scheduling staff, in conjunction with TPW-Municipal Operations, will assess the potential for damages to the facility.  At this time, scheduling staff will contact the client, advise of the issues, and a refund of the wedding ceremony fee will be issued.

Cancellations by the client must be received at the HRM Facility Scheduling Office no later that one month in advance of the booking for refund of the wedding fee. Failure to notify the office within this time frame will result in complete loss of fees.

 

Role of Halifax Regional Municipality

TPW-Municipal Operations staff will check the site and do necessary clean up or repairs prior to the wedding day.

 

Responsibilities of User

  • Adhere to all applicable regulations
  • Set up, take down, and clean up
  • Any damages caused to facility
 

Public Gardens

 

 

Due to the impact on the fragile environment, weddings are not permitted in the Public Gardens.

However, pictures may be taken and do not need to be scheduled.
