The program exceeded my expectations. I learned a lot about leadership. I never stayed at a job long enough before to become a leader. You get to experience both, being on the bottom when you first start and then on top when you are experienced and training other people. I was happy to have that experience.

I am an Employment Maintenance Counselor at TEAM Work Cooperative and I provide added support to individuals who need it on their job. Youth LIVE contacted us to help with one of their participants who was struggling in certain areas of his job. Together we came up with some strategies to help this individual. "Youth LIVE is a way for out-of-work young people to overcome their job search and/or career development barriers. It is an open door that allows breathing space from the cycle of unemployment and dead-end jobs - a place where a person can create a plan of action for future employment.
Participants move further in their adulthood transition through the integration of life skills training and job duties. This experience appeals to employers, who believe that completion of the program is proof that an individual has the right work ethic to join their company.
