(May 13, 2005) Draft #1 of the Regional Plan, tabled with Regional Council April 26, 2005 has undergone editorial revisions prior to being released for public consultation. The intent and outcome of all policies remain the same.
The title has changed from Working Draft for Presentation to Council to Working Draft for Public Consultation.
The only content change concerns removing the section on page 74 called Capital Transportation Authority and replacing it with Strategic Joint Regional Transportation Planning Committee. This reflects Regional Council’s recent decision to establish this committee.
Mapping corrections were made on Map One: (Settlement and Transportation) to show the proposed ferry route to Eastern Passage, the correct alignment of Highway 7, and the correct colour for the Russell Lake District Centre. Changes were also made to Map 14 (Municipal Sewer and Water Services) to show the correct boundaries of lands owned by the Halifax Regional Water Commission. The label "Water Only" was replaced by "Water Service District" on Map 14.
Two sentences of clarification were added to policy SW-5 on page 134 concerning land areas between the edge of the Full Service Boundary and the Urban Settlement Designation as the previous wording sparked questions from members of Council and land owners. All other changes were made to correct grammar, spelling, consistency in the use of terminology or minor clarifications.
