Notice of Public Hearing
A public hearing will be held by Regional Council on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Halifax City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax. All oral and written submissions will be considered at that time. Written submissions may be forwarded by mail to the Municipal Clerk, P.O. Box 1749, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 3A5; by fax, 490-4208; or by e-mail. Written submissions should be received by the Municipal Clerk’s office as early as possible and not later than 3:00 p.m. on the scheduled date of the public hearing.

Public Meetings
The Halifax Regional Municipality hosted a series of Public Meetings
to present proposed changes to the municipality’s by-laws for the siting of
large and small scale wind turbines in HRM. These meetings were intended to
obtain feedback from interested citizens prior to bringing the matter to
Regional Council for consideration.

Previous Public Meetings
In early 2007 Halifax Regional Municipality hosted three community consultation meetings to obtain input from residents regarding the siting of wind turbines in urban locations.
Community input will assist staff in preparing land use regulations for wind turbines in the urban service boundary of the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Public Consultation - Phase I
In March-April 2007, Halifax Regional Municipality hosted a series of meetings to receive public input on the siting of wind turbines in the Halifax Regional Municipality. The public's comments were considered in preparing proposed amendments to the Regional Municipality Planning Strategy. The proposed amendments once completed and approved will form the policy and regulations for the siting of wind turbines in HRM.
