Dartmouth Main Street Area Plan Review

Plan Review Update
As of December 2011, HRM staff are finalizing the proposed amendments to the Dartmouth Land Use By-law and Municipal Planning Strategy. This is a critical step toward realizing the Streetscape Study vision and addressing input received from businesses and residents at four public workshops held in 2009-2010. A transportation analysis has also been completed.
We hope to bring the draft land use bylaw and a draft planning strategy to Harbour East Community Council by March 2012, for referral to Regional Council for a public hearing soon afterwards.
Watch for announcements in the local paper and online, as we prepare for a new chapter in the history of the Main Street area. If you have any questions, ideas or comments in the meantime, feel free to call Marcus Garnet, Senior Planner at 490-4481 or send him an e-mail at garnetm@halifax.ca. Thank you for your interest in the future of Dartmouth's Main Street area.

The above "Design Alternatives" are just concepts to help with discussion. We have not included front yard parking because the Streetscape Study has already established that the area should be supportive to pedestrians with rationalized parking
relocated to the rear. We have added some side-yard parking options because rear-yard parking may be difficult to achieve in the short term.
As you look at each concept, ask yourself which one you like best. Then ask yourself which would make a good intermediate step between what is there now and what you would ultimately like to see.
Send your comments and ideas to Marcus Garnet, Senior Planner, at garnetm@halifax.ca
Thank you for your input.
