Halifax Harbour
As a component of the Regional Plan, the Halifax Harbour Plan will address its future development, including all harbourfront lands and the water itself.
Halifax Harbour, from Eastern Passage to Chebucto Head is an invaluable asset of our region. Growth in marine-based and offshore industry, our Navy, tourism, recreational, residential and commercial sectors around the harbour have accelerated in recent years, with several large scale projects planned or anticipated.
The Harbour Solutions clean-up project will bring new opportunities and protect valuable eco-systems.
At the centre of the often competing uses of the harbour is an understanding among stakeholders that the harbour is an essential regional and national resource that must be managed carefully and strategically.
The Harbour Plan will develop policy, regulatory and communication mechanisms to balance the fundamental uses of the harbour.
