The Halifax Regional Speed Skating Club

The Halifax Regional Speed Skating Club (HRSSC) is a community based, non-profit sport organization, offering recreational and competitive programs for all ages and abilities.  Halifax Regional Speed Skating Club

The HRSSC Learn to Skate program develops fundamental skills appropriate to any skating activity or sport. Speed skating programs range from beginner to high performance levels. Skaters learn and practice short track and long track speed skating technique and skills. 

All HRSSC programs are:

  • based on the Long Term Participant and Athlete Development Model, balancing skill development with fun and fitness.
  • coached by Speed Skate Canada certified coaches. 

HRSSC competitive skaters participate in regional and national speed skating competitions. Recreational skaters participate in local fun meets. Registration in HRSSC programs includes on ice sessions at St. Margaret’s Center Arena (Tantallon) and designated speed skating sessions on the Emera Oval.
