CYCLING
Brunswick Street Assessment
Spring Garden Road to Sackville Street

Pavement Factors

Roadway pavement is cracked and patched in some areas, with some indication of weathering. No potholes were found on the roadway. There are rough areas around manhole covers in the middle of the street. A number of parallel drainage grates on both sides were noted.

The picture (above left) indicates cracked and weathered roadway surface conditions. There are a number of parallel drain grates (bottom left in right hand picture) which should be replaced. Also, as this picture indicates, the roadway surface is not level with the gutter.

Location Factors

Parallel, metered parking is provided on both sides of the roadway. The road consists of two lanes. There are no dedicated turn lanes on this segment in the southbound direction; a turn lane is provided at the Sackville Street intersection. There are traffic signals at Sackville Street and a stop sign at Spring Garden.

The road grade is moderate. There is a slight horizontal curve to the west along the segment, but visibility is not impaired. The segment serves as a peak time north bound bus route, with a bus stop at the corner of Brunswick Street at Spring Garden Road. Land use in the area is commercial/institutional.

The picture grouping below shows the moderate grade and parallel metered parking on both sides of the street segment. The alignment provides for a single lane of traffic in both directions.
