Problem Reporting/Request for New Traffic Control Devices

HRM maintains streets within an 'urban core' area.  If you are outside this area, you will need to contact the Provincial Dept. of Transportation and Public Works.  New subdivisions outside of the core area may be maintained by HRM.

If you wish to report a problem with a traffic control device (such as a malfunctioning traffic signal or missing sign) or request the installation of a new device (such as a sign, signal or pavement marking), please contact the appropriate personnel below:


Western Region includes the Former City of Halifax and the boundaries are:
  • Route 349 at Village Road
  • Old Sambro Road at Leiblin Drive
  • Trunk 3 at Hwy 103 Exit 4
  • Includes Westwood Hills Subdivision

Eastern Region includes the Former City of Dartmouth and the boundaries are:
  • Route 207 at Ross Road
  • Trunk 7 at Ross Road
  • North Preston - Upper Governor St at St. Thomas Cemetery
  • Waverley Road at Spider Lake Road
  • Windmill Road past Akerley Blvd (beginning of concrete median)

Central Region includes the Former Town of Bedford, Sackville, Fall River and Waverley and the boundaries are:
  • Waverley Road at Spider Lake Road
  • Trunk 2 at Sunnylea Road (Wellington)
  • Beaver Bank Road at Beaver Bank River (north of Kinsac Road)
  • Trunk 1 at Patton Road (northwest intersection)
  • Pockwock Road (end)
  • Hammonds Plains Road at Westwood Blvd/Flat Lake Drive
  • Inludes subdivisions:  White Birch Hills, Highland Park, Haliburton Heights
