Community Development and Housing
Vision: Maintain the village atmosphere of Fall River while developing venues and opportunities for residents to participate in community building events.
Buildings
Needs to meet the requirements of the Fall River demographic. Encourage both youth and seniors to continue to reside in the area.
Introduce/enforce guidelines and regulations to maintain a low t medium population density.
Accommodate, by design, a graduated housing concept for seniors.
Allow in law and garden suite options to accommodate extended families. Investigate ways of preventing misuse of that accommodation.
Introduce/enforce guidelines and regulations to preclude multi storey buildings on the lake (west ) side of #2 highway in the commercial district.
Limit building height to 3 levels. Allow in the commercial district (exempt see para above) for mixed use (retail, business, residential).
Introduce/enforce guidelines and regulations that control appearance to maintain village look.
Services
A viable affordable effective transit system is required to foster and support economic and residential growth of the area.
More public access to the river/lake system is required.
Increase the number of multi purpose fields in the area.
Commission an environmental study to determine the impact on the area watershed of an increased imported water inflow from a central water system.
any sewage treatment system introduced to the area need to be a tertiary system to maintain/enhance the watershed water quality.
Investigate the viability of a swimming pool.
Encourage/support development of outdoor community rinks.
Fostering Community Cohesiveness
Establish a youth center.
Encourage/sponsor more pan community events.
Develop community gathering places.
Improve walkability of whole community.
Calm traffic on major thoroughfares.
Encourage participation in community policing (safety) groups.
Erect community signage.
Encourage community use of Snow Center.
Establish a weekend farmers market at the Fall River Recreation Center.
Volunteer Recognition
Hold an annual volunteer fair.
Meeting Needs
Follow through with the vision plan.
Encourage more medical services. Include promotion and prevention through the Snow Center.
Promote intergenerational services and groups.
Involve seniors in youth activities.
Promote social clubs.
