Regional Council Advisory Boards, Committees and Commissions

Mayor Kelly and Members of Regional Council appreciate and encourage citizen participation. To be eligible for these voluntary positions you must be a resident of Halifax Regional Municipality.

You may submit your application electronically using the form provided online, or, if you prefer, you may print the application form and mail or fax it to the Office of the Municipal Clerk.

Community Council Advisory Committees

Halifax Regional Municipality has six Community Councils, each consisting of three to six districts. Community Councils consider local matters, make recommendations to Regional Council, and provide opportunities for public input. Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment

Our 700-strong volunteer corps makes this the largest composite fire department in Canada. The volunteers respond to about 3,000 emergency calls a year throughout HRM. Members are recruited from all areas of HRM.
