HRM Volunteer services offers a variety of workshops for non-profit organizations. Staff can customize a workshop to an organization's needs. These workshops can be made available upon request while others are scheduled. The scheduled workshops are designed for volunteers and are free to attend. Understanding Your Personality Type

Learn to embrace difference, while attempting to understand our own feelings and emotions.  Differences reflect preferences people have for the way they process information, make decisions, organize their workspace, or socialize with others instead of judging. Using the Internet to Promote your Organization

Participants will learn how to use the internet and social networking sites to benefit their organization.  Discover how a web presence can promote your organization and attract volunteers.  Presenters will also provide an interactive introduction to Facebook and its many useful applications.

HRM Grant Program Workshop

This workshop will review the HRM Grants Program, offer advice on writing effective proposals, share reasons why some proposals are funded and others are not. Leveraging of funding is explored and as well as tips on how to present a project budget. HRM Grant Applications are due the end of March.

Developing Outdoor Facilities

Does your community want to build a playground, skate-park, Basketball court, trail or other outdoor facilities? This workshop will provide you with an understanding of the municipal processes for developing outdoor facilities and examine how to get community support, project planning, budgeting and partnerships.

Organizing Community Events

From street parties to festivals we will lead you though a process of organizing community events. Topics and a take home “how-to” booklet will include: event planning tips, how HRM can help you with your event, possible partners and a look at getting sponsors to help make your event happen!

Volunteer Recruitment

This workshop will provide practical tips and tools to recruit volunteers to your group. We will discuss the importance of an effective recruitment program, various recruitment methods and how to support your new volunteer once you’ve recruited them.  We will look at recruitment from both the perspective of the volunteer and the organization.

Community Engagement for Volunteers

Has your group or organization ever wondered how to talk to the public? How do you get the public's involvement on a project you’re working on? How can you make sure your engagement project represents what the whole community is asking for? Today’s complex world demands a wider range of responses and greater skills at resolving conflicts that the tendency to attack or avoid a person we disagree with. Managing & Motivating Volunteers

It is important for organizations to be able to retain and involve their existing volunteers. Knowing how to manage and motivate volunteers effectively is key.  This session will take you through the elements of volunteer management from selecting and matching volunteers to recognizing and rewarding their valuable contributions.

Step Up Up Leadership

This course was designed by volunteers for volunteers looking for training in personal and skill development. This is a 10 week program which covers topics like personality type, group dynamics, how to form organizations, effective meetings, etc.
