Title: English Tutor Volunteer

Job Description: Volunteer Tutors are matched one-on-one with a newcomer to teach English during home visits and/or in the community. Create lesson plans based on the objectives of the learners .Tutors can offer support in ESL literacy, listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing and pronunciation skills. Title: Bike-Fest Open Street Party Volunteer

Duraton: Short Term  

Job Description:The Halifax Cycling Coalition (HCC) is looking for Volunteers to help out with the Annual Bike Week, Open Street Party held on SUNDAY, May 27th from 2-5pm at the Halifax Commons! The Open Street Party is, well… a big party in the street! In addition to opening the streets around the Commons to cyclists, runners, skateboarders and others, there will be a kid’s race and other activities, a variety of bike clinics, valet bike parking, music and lots more…. but in order to make the event a success we need volunteers like you. The HCC needs friendly volunteers to:

(1) guide community groups to their booths & help with set up

(2) ride their bikes around during the party to ensure the safety of all participants

(3) answer questions from participants (we will provide you with all the answers you’ll need)

(4) help set up & take down

All volunteers will get a free t-shirt and have access to tasty snacks & refreshments.

Title: Bike Week Art Crawl Volunteers

Title: Table Volunteers and School Presenters

Job Description: Oxfam is currently searching for 10 enthusiastic volunteers
to help manage our Spring Farmers’ Markets Series! Volunteers will manage
tables at the markets and engage passersby in advocacy activities, promote
our Female Food Heroes national campaign, promote Oxfam Unwrapped gifts
and raise funds for Oxfam. In 2-­‐hour shifts, volunteers will promote Oxfam’s
important work in developing countries at the Seaport Farmer’s Market on
April 7 (Easter Weekend) and May 13 (Mother’s Day). We are also looking for
volunteers to give school presentations on Oxfam, helping to bring awareness
about poverty and human rights to high school students across the Maritimes.
Volunteers who are fully bilingual and able to deliver presentations to French
immersion schools are also needed.

Job Title: MS Society HRM Chapter Carnation Campaign Coordinator
Job Description:
The Carnation Campaign is one of the two main fundraisers organized by the HRM Chapter. We are looking a volunteer to take a leadership role for the HRM Chapter in combination with other team leaders. The Drop In Club (Run by The Social, Cultural, Recreational Inclusion (SCRI) Society) is a service for youth and young adults, 6 days a week, at St. James Anglican Church Hall (2668 Joseph Howe Drive, at the Armdale roundabout). Our members have intellectual disabilities, special needs, or difficulties with learning and communication. We get together to socialize and have fun. Our volunteers help set up our activity centres each day (Wii, movies, crafts, music, costume & more), and make sure our members are welcomed and engaged.
