Man Faces Weapons Charges

A man faces charges in connection with an incident that took place on a Metro Transit bus yesterday in Dartmouth.

At 3:46 p.m., police responded to a call at the Metro Transit bus terminal at 110 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Two men on a bus got into an argument and one of them discharged a sensory irritant. Nine people had to be treated by EHS at the scene. The suspect fled on foot but was arrested a short time later at Alderney Landing. A search of the suspect resulted in officers seizing a can of sensory irritant.

Twenty-five-year-old Donald Joseph McNamara was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today. He faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, mischief and nine counts of assault with a weapon.
