Join Halifax Regional Municipality and Helping Nature Heal at Kinsmen First Lake Beach in Lower Sackville for a hands-on, community-driven, multi-day workshop focused on implementing nature-based solutions to improve riparian zone health. As part of a shoreline restoration project designed to achieve Green Shores® certification, participants will play an active role in restoring the shoreline while learning how nature-based infrastructure can be used to protect and enhance healthy, resilient waterfront ecosystems.
The Living Lakeshores workshop will extend from September 15 to September 18, 2026, with an additional half-day scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, for those who are unable to attend the core workshop due to work and other commitments. This opportunity is open to everyone above the age of majority, although children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn practical skills to help restore natural ecosystems and build more resilient landscapes. All days of the workshop are free to attend.

Living Lakeshores installation dates: September 15, 16, 17, and 18, 2026
Times: 9AM – 3PM each day, with the exception of September 18, which is anticipated to be a half-day (9AM – noon)
Living Lakeshores family day: September 19 from 9AM-12PM
Participation in as many days as possible is strongly encouraged, but we understand that this may not be feasible for everyone so partial attendance can also be accommodated. You can specify the days you expect to attend in the registration form below.
