Regional Council will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax. Council will consider oral and written submissions on this proposal. If considered advisable, Council will approve the proposal after the Public Hearing
KWR Approvals Inc., on behalf of Pathos Properties Incorporated, is applying to amend the Halifax Municipal Planning Strategy and the Halifax Mainland Land Use By-law.

The applicant wishes to construct an eight-storey, mixed-use building, with ground floor commercial and residential units above, at 205 Bedford Highway. This proposal cannot be considered under existing policies. The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:
- eight storeys in height
- ground floor commercial space
- 55 dwelling units, including 18 affordable units rented at 30% below market rents
- 11 barrier free units
- underground parking
The application will be considered as a Municipal Planning Strategy Amendment.
On October 2, 2018, Regional Council directed municipal staff to consider amendments that would enable the proposed development. Municipal staff hosted a public information meeting on February 4, 2019 at Rockingham United Church, Flamingo Drive. View the initiation report.
On November 13, 2019, Halifax and West Community Council considered a staff report on the proposal to amend the Halifax Municipal Planning Strategy. Community Council recommended that Regional Council consider amendments to permit an eight-storey, mixed-use building, with ground floor commercial and residential units above, at 205 Bedford Highway. Regional Council cannot approve any amendments before holding a Public Hearing.
