A public hearing will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Bedford Hammonds Plains Community Centre, 202 Innovation Drive, Bedford, NS. North West Community Council will consider a development agreement contained in the March 28, 2018 staff report found below.
Application by WSP Canada Inc. on behalf of Hamton Holdings Limited to enter into a development agreement on lands on the southwestern corner of Damascus Road and Duke Street, Bedford to allow for a reduction in the setback from an environmentally sensitive area.

The subject site is located in the community of Bedford at the entrance to the Bedford Commons commercial area and has frontage on both Damascus Road and Duke street. The applicant has submitted a request to enter into a development agreement to allow for a reduction in the setback from a water retention area. The proposed reduction would reduce the setback from 100 feet to 50 feet. Please note that the proposal includes an alteration of the existing water retention area [subject to N.S. Environment approval]. The proposed agreement deals with the requirements and implementation of a reduced setback. Land uses would be as enabled in the ILI Zone. The property is designated IND [Industrial] under the Bedford Municipal Planning Strategy and zoned ILI [Light Industrial] Zone under the Bedford Land Use By-law.
This application is being considered through the Development Agreement Process.
A Public Information Meeting was held on Monday April 3, 2017 at 7 p.m. Staff have reviewed the request and a staff report and draft development agreement on the proposal including recommendations is now complete. The staff report has been forwarded to North West Community Council for a public hearing and decision. The public hearing will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Bedford Hammonds Plains Community Centre, 202 Innovation Drive, Bedford, NS. All oral and written submissions will be considered at that time. Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by mail, P.O. Written submissions should be received by the Municipal Clerk’s office as early as possible and not later than 3:00 p.m. on May 14, 2018. For any written submissions exceeding three standard letter sized pages in length, ten (10) copies must be supplied to the Municipal Clerk’s office.
