Regional Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Halifax City Hall (Council Chamber), 3rd Floor, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS. All oral and written submissions will be considered at that time. Council will consider and, if deemed advisable, approve the application. Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by mail, P.O. Box 1749, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 3A5; by fax, 902-490-4208; or by e-mail, email@example.com. Written submissions should be received by the Municipal Clerk’s office as early as possible and not later than 3:00 p.m. on February 12, 2019. For any written submissions exceeding three standard letter sized pages in length, thirty copies must be supplied to the Municipal Clerk’s office.
WM Fares Ltd. is applying to amend the Halifax Municipal Planning Strategy and Halifax Mainland Land Use By-law to enable multi-unit residential development on a portion of 29 McFatridge Road, Halifax. As part of this application, HRM will consider changes to reduce parking requirements in the C-2C (Dutch Village Road Mixed Use) Zone.
The applicant wishes to develop a 7-storey building at 29 McFatridge St. and at neighboring properties on Joseph Howe Drive. The major features of the proposal are:
- A maximum height of 7 storeys, with a 4-storey section at the southern end of the site
- A three storey streetwall facing Joseph Howe Drive
- 105 dwelling units

The application is a request for new planning policy. Before Regional Council can make any decision about the proposal, a Public Hearing must be held.
A public information meeting was held on Wednesday July 25, 2018, at the Joseph Howe Drive Superstore, Community Room. The next step is for staff to review the application, and create a staff report.
