A Public Hearing is set for November 13, 2019 at Halifax and West Community Council at 6:00 p.m. at Halifax City Hall (Council Chamber), 3rd Floor, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS.
An application has been submitted by Mr. Reich to rezone their property, identified as Lot 4 Pioneer Hill (PID 41420860) on Pioneer Hill in Whites Lake, from RA-3 (Residential A-3) Zone to RA-4 (Residential A-4) Zone to permit an attached auxiliary dwelling unit for an in-law suite.
The subject site is located within the Whites Lake community and has frontage on Pioneer Hill, a private lane off Powers Road. The applicant has submitted a request to rezone the property to allow for an auxiliary dwelling unit. The property is designated Residential A under the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) for Planning District 4 (Prospect) and zoned RA-3 (Residential A-3) under the Land Use By-law (LUB) for Planning District 4 (Prospect). Auxiliary units are not permitted under the RA-3 Zone; however, an application to rezone the property may be considered through enabling Policy RA-3 of Section III of the MPS.
This application is being considered through the Land Use By-law Amendment.
Municipal staff have undertaken a detailed review of the application. Public comment was open until September 5, 2019. Following the feedback period, a staff recommendation report went to Halifax and West Community Council for consideration at the October 15, 2019 meeting. As a result, Halifax and West Community Council set a public hearing date for November 13, 2019 at 6:00 p.m in Halifax City Hall (Council Chamber), 3rd Floor, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS.
