WM Fares has applied to rezone property at 95 Caledonia Road from C-1 (Local Business) to C-2 (General Business) and to enter into a development agreement to allow the construction of a new multi-unit dwelling (apartment building) with ground floor commercial uses.
The applicant proposes to remove the existing building and construct a new building at 95 Caledonia Road with these features:
• 5 storeys
• Ground floor commercial uses fronting Caledonia Road
• 361 m2 (3890 ft2) of commercial space
• Covered surface parking
• 59 units (apartments)
The development plans provided below outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to design, site layout, traffic and servicing of the proposed building.
The Harbour East Marine Drive Community Council intends to consider and decide whether to approve or refuse this application at a virtual public hearing to be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 6:00 pm. All oral and written submissions will be considered at that time. This meeting will occur in a virtual setting; attending in person is not possible. Written submissions are welcomed and encouraged, and will be distributed to all Councillors prior to the decision. Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by e-mail; by fax, 902-490-4208; or by mail, P.O. Box 1749, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 3A5. Written submissions must be received by the Municipal Clerk’s office as early as possible and not later than 3:00 p.m. on May 6, 2021. Please allow sufficient time for delivery given slower than typical mail delivery times during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The virtual public hearing will be webcast and may be viewed online. Members of the public, wishing to speak at the public hearing, may contact the Municipal Clerk’s office no later than 4:30 p.m. on May 5, 2021 to be added to the speakers list to speak by telephone.
