Mitch Dickey Urban Planning, on behalf of Housing Trust Nova Scotia, is requesting a non-substantive amendment to an existing development agreement on lands at 2250-2260 Maitland Street, Halifax to enable a time extension to the dates for both commencement and completion of development.
In 2015, Halifax and West Community Council approved a development agreement to allow a mixed-use development at 2250-2260 Maitland Street, Halifax (Case 18547). The development agreement states construction must commence within four years from the date the agreement was registered, which was June 2, 2016. The agreement also states development is to be completed six years from the date of registration.
The applicant wishes to amend the existing development agreement to:
(1) allow a one year extension to the date of commencement to enable construction to begin by June 2, 2021; and,
(2) allow a two year extension to the completion date, with completion to be achieved by June 2, 2024.
An extension to the dates for commencement and completion are considered non-substantive amendments to the agreement.
Currently staff are completing a detailed review of the application.
