The Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia is applying to amend the Development Agreement for the lands of the Adsum Association for Women & Children at 158 Greenhead Road, Lakeside to permit an expansion to the existing residential care facility (Adsum Centre).
Please note the design of the proposal has changed as a result of recently announced Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI) funding from the Federal Government. View the staff report for more details regarding RHI funding.
The applicant wishes to expand the existing residential care facility (Adsum Centre). The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:
• The removal/demolition of the existing former school building;
• The addition of six (6) modular buildings including:
o A one-storey building located at the front of the site to contain the non-residential portions of the residential care facility (programing space etc.); and
o Five (5) two-storey residential buildings containing 25 units (41 beds total);
• 24 parking spaces.
The Development Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in greater detail.
The application will be considered under the Development Agreement Amendment Process.
A virtual public hearing will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
All oral and written submissions will be considered at that time. This meeting will occur in a virtual setting and attending in person is not possible. Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, written submissions are welcomed and encouraged in advanced of the hearing itself. These submissions are distributed to all Councillors and considered at the time of their decision.
