Application by Brighter Community Planning & Consulting to amend the Beaverbank, Hammonds Plains & Upper Sackville LUB to change the zone from Mixed Use (MU-1) zone to Mixed Industrial (I-1) zone at 1155 Lucasville Road to permit a bus yard.
Proposal
The subject property for the proposed rezoning is located at 1155 Lucasville Road, Lucasville. The property is designated Mixed Use B (MUB) in the Beaverbank, Hammonds Plains & Upper Sackville Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and is zoned Mixed Use (MU-1) under the Land Use By-law (LUB).
The applicant is seeking the rezoning to legalize an existing Bus Yard operation. Current operations are described accommodating between 50 to 70 school busses on the subject property

Process
The application will be considered under the Rezoning, process.
Status
Adjacent property owners will be notified of public consultation. A sign has been posted by the applicant on the subject site advertising the Planning Application. Staff will undertake a detailed review of the application and undertake public consultation prior to sending a recommendation report to North West Community Council. Prior to any considerations on this matter, North West Community Council is required under the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter, to hold a Public Hearing. At that time, an additional opportunity for public feedback is provided. Notices of the date, time and location of the Hearing will be advertised in the future.
