Application by Ron Nelson to extend the construction commencement date in the development agreement for the redevelopment of the Inn on the Lake, Fall River.
A development agreement was approved by North West Community Council in 2015 to allow the redevelopment of the Inn on the Lake property. The existing agreement required the property owner to begin construction within 5 years of the development agreement being signed and registered. Construction has not commenced and more time to construct has been requested.
The existing development agreement allows:
- Construction of an addition on the rear of the existing building;
- Options to either retain the existing hotel use and add 75 residential units or convert the entire property to residential resulting in 91 residential units;
- Addition of a dwelling unit to a detached garage building; and
- 1,395 square feet of commercial area in the main building.
The Development Plans (provided in the existing development agreement and staff report links below) outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to the design and location of the proposed addition, parking locations, driveway access, and landscaping.
The application will be considered under the substantive development agreement process.
The application has been reviewed by municipal staff and and is now in the public engagement stage. The method for public engagement for this application is a mailout to property owners and residents near the subject property and around Lake Thomas north of Highway 102 advising them of the application and how to provide feedback. Even if you are not within the notification area, you can provide feedback to the planner assigned to the file listed below. A sign is posted by the applicant on the subject site advertising the Planning Application.
Prior to any considerations on this matter, North West Community Council is required under the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter, to hold a Public Hearing. At that time, an additional opportunity for public feedback will be provided. Notices of the date, time and location of the hearing will be advertised in the future.
