Case 24220 - 2250 Maitland Street, Halifax

The Housing Trust of Nova Scotia is requesting to discharge an existing Development Agreement from the lands at 2250 Maitland Street, Halifax.

The applicant wishes to discharge a Development Agreement which permitted a mixed-use development. The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:

•    The original development agreement was entered in 2016 and permitted a mixed-use building with a maximum height of 20.1 metres.
•    The building featured commercial space along Gottingen Street and a maximum of 117 residential dwelling units.
•    In 2020, the original agreement was amended to allow for a time extension to allow more time to start and complete the development. The development has not started, and the time extension expired in June 2021. Therefore, the existing agreement has no further force or effect.
•    Discharge of this agreement would result in future development of this site being subject to the requirements of the underlying zone, which is CEN-2 (Centre 2) Zone under the Regional Centre Land Use By-law.

The submitted documents (provided below) outline the request in detail and include the existing agreement.

The application will be considered under the process for discharging development agreements.
