Sunrose Land Use Consulting, on behalf of Ledwidge Lumber Company Limited, is applying to amend the Planning Districts 14 and 17 (Shubenacadie Lakes) Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Land Use By-law (LUB) to rezone portions of the Ledwidge Lumber property at 195 Old Post Road, Enfield from the Suburban Residential (R-1B) zone to the Rural Residential (R-6) zone.
Proposal
The applicant wishes to construct a biomass power plant fueled by wood residues from the existing forestry operation. The applicant also wishes to ensure the existing operation (an outdoor storage of logs) be applied with an appropriate zone.
The Site Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to the proposed building, its height, parking locations, and driveway access.
Process
The application will be considered under the MPS Amendment and Rezoning Process.
Status
Halifax Regional Council initiated the process to consider amendments to the Shubenacadie Lakes MPS and LUB on July 12, 2022. This application is now in the public consultation phase – please submit your comment about this proposed development to the contact person at the bottom of this webpage. An in-person public information meeting will be scheduled in the near future.
