An application by Zzap Consulting Inc., on behalf of the property owner, is requesting to enter into a development agreement to allow an addition to an existing multi-unit residential building located at 8 Birches Drive, Halifax.
The applicant wishes to renovate and expand an existing 17-unit dwelling at the subject site. The proposed development includes the following:
- A one-storey addition to the existing building, no additional residential units proposed.
- A side addition to the building to allow for barrier-free access and additional circulation space (stairs, exits, lobby, and elevator).
- Recladding the building with modern materials.
- Projecting balconies proposed.
The Development Plans below outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to the proposed accessible ramp, parking locations, driveway access, garbage enclosure, and other design details.
The application will be considered under the Development Amendments process.
Currently, this application is at the public engagement stage of the process. Adjacent property owners will be notified of public consultation. A sign has been posted by the applicant on the subject site advertising the Planning Application. Planning staff invite you to provide feedback and share any comments you may have about this planning application.
Following public consultation, municipal staff will draft the development agreement and write a staff report for review by the Halifax and West Community Council. Should Community Council wish to consider the proposal, a public hearing will be scheduled. The public hearing is an opportunity for you to share your opinion about the application to Community Council.
