UPDATE: The Virtual Public Information Meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 has been cancelled. The reason for cancelling the meeting - the sole attendee provided comments and does not wish to attend virtually, as such we do not need to hold the session.


Application to amend an existing development agreement to modify the requirements for a single-family dwelling at 97 Dartmouth Road, Bedford. 


In 2007, North West Community Council approved a development agreement to permit the creation of a flat lot and the development of a single-unit dwelling on the flat lot. HRM approved the subdivision for the flag lot (97 Dartmouth Road) on September 21, 2010.

The existing development agreement sets requirements related to the sitting and scale of the building, access and parking, and landscaping. It currently permits a total building footprint of 1,189 square feet. The applicant is applying a substantive amendment to increase the permitted building footprint from 1,189 square feet to 2,300 square feet.


The application will be considered under the Substantive Amendments to a Development Agreement process. 


Currently this application is at the public engagement stage of the process where public feedback is encouraged. Adjacent property owners will be notified of public consultation. A sign has been posted by the applicant on the subject site advertising the Planning Application. 

We are inviting questions and comments on the proposal. Feedback will be collected until August 22nd, 2022 before moving the application to the next stage. Following public consultation, HRM staff will create a development agreement and staff report for review by the North West Community Council. Should Community Council wish to consider the proposal, a public hearing will be scheduled. If you received this letter, you are on the mail list to be notified about the public hearing. The public hearing is an opportunity for you to share your opinion about the application to Community Council.
