Mayor Fillmore’s 2027/28 Budget Engagement

Take the survey

Our region is growing. That growth brings opportunity, but it also places pressure on the services and infrastructure residents rely on every day.

There are many priorities competing for limited resources - from transportation and infrastructure to recreation, public safety, and the services residents depend on. But we can’t do everything at once. Every decision to invest in one area affects what we can spend somewhere else.

As Regional Council prepares for the 2027/28 municipal budget, Mayor Fillmore wants to hear directly from residents about what matters most, what should come first, and what should guide the choices ahead.

Residents can participate by attending one of the drop-in sessions listed below or by completing the online survey.

This is a Mayor-led listening exercise and is seperate from HRM's formal public consultation on the municipal budget.

A municipal budget is about choices.

Every year, Regional Council has to balance the services residents rely on today with the investments our region needs for the future - while considering what residents can afford.

This engagement is an opportunity to share where you think HRM should focus, what services and investments matter most to you, where Council should look when resources are limited, and what should guide difficult budget choices.

Your feedback will help Mayor Fillmore understand the priorities, concerns, and ideas residents want him to bring into the 2027/28 budget discussions.

Upcoming Drop-in Sessions

Mayor Fillmore will host a series of Budget Workshops across HRM throughout October.

These informal drop-in sessions are an opportunity to chat with the Mayor, share what's important to you, and weigh in on some of the choices facing HRM as Regional Council prepares for the 2027/28 municipal budget.

Each workshop will last one hour and no registration is required. Drop in at any point during the scheduled time.
