Erica Fleck, Division Chief Emergency Management

Chief Ken Stuebing recently announced Erica Fleck will assume the role of Division Chief Emergency Management with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency on March 1, 2018.  Division Chief Fleck was selected after an extensive national search to determine a successor for outgoing Division Chief Barry Manuel.

Division Chief Fleck holds a Bachelor of Emergency Management and has significant experience in policy development, execution, and review of emergency plans.  Described as engaging and highly approachable, Division Chief Fleck has a reputation as an outstanding relationship builder, highly respected for her strong communication skills, ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, and commitment to excellence.

Division Chief Fleck has been recognized for her leadership in several significant emergency events in Canada, and her work as part of Canadian delegations during multiple international relief efforts in response to catastrophic events around the world.   Division Chief Fleck joins Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency following a distinguished 30-year career with the Canadian Military, including her most recent assignment as Commanding Officer Joint Task Force Atlantic Headquarters, retiring at the rank of Major.

Division Chief Fleck had the following to say about her new role with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, "Emergency management and preparedness in the Halifax Regional Municipality is of critical importance to me as an emergency management professional, a parent, and a community member.
